The photo-etched set Eduard 1:35 SU-85 adds fine metal detail to the plastic model of the Soviet tank destroyer. It is not a kit but an aftermarket improvement.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:35 scale intended for the plastic model of the Soviet SU-85 tank destroyer. Thin metal sheet makes it possible to render features that cannot be injection molded to scale thickness: sheet metal covers, grilles, grab handles and the small fittings of the hull. The vehicle itself is not included in the package, as this is an accessory for a model you have already bought.
The SU-85 was a Soviet tank destroyer built on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank. In a fixed fighting superstructure it carried an 85 mm gun which, against the earlier howitzer armament, offered a markedly better ability to destroy armored targets at longer range. It entered production in 1943 and supplemented the existing self-propelled guns of the same design line; later it was succeeded by a version with a 100 mm gun.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and never break them out. Make the folds in a bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge is crisp. Metal is glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in minute drops, and on larger areas a slow-setting epoxy is safer. Degrease the surface and apply a primer before painting. On the finished vehicle, picking out the edges, a wash into the recesses and dust or mud effects with pigments all come out well.
The package holds photo-etched parts only. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
