Photo-etched side armor panels in 1:35 scale for a model of the Russian T-14 Armata tank. The metal parts have a truer thickness than plastic ones.
Responsibility details are not available.
The T-14 Armata is a Russian tank built on the common Armata tracked platform and first shown in public in 2015. It differs from older Soviet types in its layout: the crew sits in an armored compartment in the front of the hull and the turret is unmanned. The silhouette is angular and the sides of the running gear are covered by large flat panels that strongly define the shape of the vehicle.
The set holds photo-etched metal side armor panels in 1:35 scale. It is on these that the difference from plastic parts shows best, because in reality they are thin sheet panels, whereas a molding has to be thicker for strength. The placement of the parts and the assembly sequence are described in the manufacturer's instructions supplied with the set. They will also tell you what to do with the panels if you are building a model with them partly removed.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard base and level the remains of the tabs with a file. Lay the long panels against the model dry along their whole length before gluing, so that they sit parallel with the hull; make the bends over the edge of a ruler or in a photo-etch bender. Dose the glue very sparingly. Before painting, wash, degrease and prime the metal, otherwise the paint rubs off the smooth surface.
The set suits modelers who are finishing off the silhouette of a modern armored vehicle and want the side surfaces at the right thickness. Working with long photo-etched parts does, however, assume a steady hand and a calm approach. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
