An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Type 3 (Taisho 3) heavy machine gun in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer RPM. It is neither a vehicle nor an aircraft but a detailed model of the weapon itself on a tripod mount, which will round out figure scenes and dioramas of the Second World War period. The nickname Woodpecker arose from the characteristic sound of its fire.
The Type 3 was a Japanese heavy machine gun of 6.5 mm caliber introduced in the 1920s and derived from the French Hotchkiss design. It used metal strip feed and an air-cooled barrel, and it was served on a tripod. It served in the armament of the Japanese army for many years and was committed in the Second World War as well.
Cut the small parts away carefully and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. We recommend spraying the model with an airbrush over a filler primer, picking the metal parts out in a darker steel color and suggesting worn edges with a dry brush. Pigments and fine washes suit the assembly well and give the impression of a weapon in use.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
