An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Tiger I heavy tank in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model. It captures the initial production version of the beginning of 1943 including the configuration for the North African theater. It is a demanding kit with a full interior of the hull and the turret, fine photo-etched parts and detailed running gear. The box offers several marking options.
The Tiger I (Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.E) was a German heavy tank used from 1942. It became famous for its thick armor and for the 8.8 cm gun, which could destroy Allied vehicles at long range. Initial production examples had a number of characteristic features that changed or disappeared on later batches, for example the arrangements for operating in dusty conditions. Early Tigers were used among other places in Tunisia and on the Eastern Front.
Finish and paint the full interior and the running gear before you close the hull, otherwise the details will stay hidden. Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies, and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. Sand shades work well for the North African scheme; create the weathering with washes running into the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
