The accessory set from the Czech maker Hauler in 1:35 scale shows the American heavy demolition rocket of 7.2 inches caliber, that is, roughly 183 mm. It is not a kit of a vehicle nor a working whole - it is a small accessory with which a diorama, the load area of a vehicle or an ammunition dump at a firing position is fitted out. Details of this kind give a scene scale and a connected action that a model alone does not have.
Heavy demolition rockets of this caliber were introduced by the American army in the Second World War against field fortifications and concrete obstacles that ordinary tank ammunition could not deal with. They were fired from multiple launchers carried by medium tanks. The projectiles had a short thick-walled body of large diameter, a low muzzle velocity and a short range; from a modeler's point of view what is interesting above all is their unusual shape, markedly different from classic artillery rounds.
First rid the castings of the casting blocks with a fine saw or a cutting disc and level the cut with abrasive paper; sanding is better done wet and with your breathing protected. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry - you will rid them of the remains of the mold release agent and of grease from your fingers. A primer follows, a base shade matching American equipment and a matte varnish. The look is helped by a darker wash into the hollows and a fine application of dust pigment in the lower part. Do not invent the lettering and markings: without period evidence, leave the body clean instead.
This is an accessory for a model or a diorama, not a kit of a vehicle. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
