A model of an American workshop crane in 1:35 scale, an accessory for a diorama of a repair or supply scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
A workshop crane is a lifting device no repair shop for heavy equipment can do without. It serves to lift an engine and other heavy assemblies out of a vehicle, to carry them to a workbench and back again. In field as well as permanent workshops it belonged to the basic equipment, and in period photographs of repair units it is practically always to be seen. This model works it out in 1:35 scale after an American subject.
A vehicle on a base on its own always looks a little lonely. A crane gives a scene action: beside a dismantled vehicle with an open engine bay, with figures of mechanics, with crates of tools and barrels around. It also serves well as the central element of a smaller setting, where the crane alone carries the story. The dimensions in 1:35 scale match the most widespread size of models of ground equipment and figures.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting, let them dry and apply a base coat; choose the glue according to the material of the parts and the manufacturer's instructions. Cut the excess material and the marks of production off with a sharp blade a short way from the part and sand the remainder. Keep the painting to a simple base and leave the main work to the wear: workshop equipment tends to be chipped, greasy and scratched. Draw the edges out in a lighter shade, darken the joints and dust the underside with pigment.
Paints, glue, figures and other fittings for a diorama are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
