1:35 US Army Inf(7) Gunslinger

Bravo 6 1:35 US Army Inf. (7) - Gunslinger

The seventh volume of the figure series of American infantry from the manufacturer Bravo 6 in 1:35 scale. The resin castings are supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is neither a kit of a vehicle nor of an aircraft but a figure accessory for models of equipment and for dioramas from the period of the war in Vietnam.

Subject and workmanship

The figures wear tropical field dress with a load-bearing harness, ammunition pouches and small kit. The pose is built dynamically, with a turned torso and head, so the figure works as the visual center of a scene and not merely as filler. The castings come divided into torso, head, limbs and fittings. Before gluing it pays to try the assembly out dry and to think through how the figure will be settled in the terrain or on a vehicle, because resin is hard to reorient once the glue has set.

Building and painting tips

First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent because of the release agent from the mold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, sand the surfaces down wet and wear respiratory protection while sanding resin. Glue with cyanoacrylate super glue, fill the seams at the shoulders and the neck with putty and sand them over. After a thin primer comes the base olive tone, a dark wash into the folds and a lightening of the edges. Bring the leather of the footwear and the straps to life with a sparing gloss and leave the textile matte instead; the difference of surfaces gives a figure depth in this scale.
