A detail set in 1:35 scale intended to refine the space under the hood of the Willys MB light off-road vehicle. The resin castings capture the shapes that injected plastic simplifies for reasons of technology: the engine, its accessories and the walls of the engine compartment. This is not a model of the vehicle but an accessory that is fitted into a part-built kit.
The Willys MB is a light four-wheel off-road vehicle with an open body and a folding windshield. An exposed engine compartment pays off on exactly this subject: the hood can be built tipped up and the viewer then looks straight into the vehicle's innards. For such a scene to hold up, there has to be something under the hood to detail, and that is precisely what this set is for. Count on the fact that building the engine compartment also involves modifying the plastic parts of the hood and of the front of the body.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent to remove the residue of the mold release agent, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disk, do not snap them. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, because plastic cement does not work on resin. When sanding, work wet and with respiratory protection. Apply primer before painting; the engine and its surroundings will then stand out with a dark wash in the recesses and a fine pick-out of the edges with a dry brush. Modelers usually add the plumbing and wiring from wire according to their own documentation.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. The set is intended for the Willys MB kit from Takom; before buying, check that it fits the model you are building.
