A wooden farmer's cart in 1:35 scale from the maker RES-IM is a diorama accessory that brings both scale and a story into a rural scene. It is not a vehicle model to be built on its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
This diorama accessory from the maker RES-IM represents a plain wooden farm cart with ladder sides, the kind that was in use in the European countryside well into the twentieth century. In 1:35 scale it completes a scene with infantry, with military vehicles or with a farmstead and gives it what military equipment alone never will, that is a civilian context. The set is focused on the cart itself.
Farm carts of this type were built from oak or beech wood, the wheels were wooden with an iron tire and the axles and connecting parts were forged. They were used for hauling hay, grain and timber and were usually drawn by a team of horses or oxen. The construction was similar all over Europe and varied only in details, which is an advantage for a modeler: the cart fits a scene from the Eastern and the Western Front just as well as a civilian subject with no military theme.
First wash the castings free of release agent residue and cut the casting blocks off with a saw rather than snapping them. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Wood is well imitated over a light base: first a thin glaze in a brown tone drawn in the direction of the grain, then a dry brush in a lighter shade, which brings the texture out. Do the forged parts and the tires of the wheels in dark steel with a hint of rust, and weather the underside of the cart and the wheels with pigments in the shade of the surrounding soil, so that the cart does not look as if it had just come down from a display case. You can add a load yourself from real straw, string or small crates.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, figures and draft animals are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
