This add-on set of photo-etched brass sheet from Voyager Model is prepared for the Dragon 6540 plastic kit. On its own it does not make up a model; it serves to replace and supplement the parts that in plastic are inevitably thicker than in reality.
The Flakpanzer IV with the nickname Wirbelwind was built on the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank. The original turret was replaced by an open multi-sided superstructure with a 2 cm anti-aircraft weapon. The aim of the design was mobile anti-aircraft cover for armored units on the move. The open top of the superstructure matters for a model, because during the build the inside stays visible and thin metal walls and mount details show there most of all.
Most photo-etched parts have to be bent exactly on the marked groove. A small modeling bending tool serves best, and at a pinch the edge of a steel ruler with the flat blade of a scalpel as the press. Bend in short strokes along the whole length rather than with one levering movement at the edge, otherwise the edge will ripple. Bend longer parts before you take them off the fret, if the position of the tabs allows it. Try multiple bends dry first on an offcut of the border sheet.
This is an add-on set for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
