A turned barrel with a gun mantlet for a model of the German Geschützwagen IV b self-propelled howitzer with the 10.5 cm le.F.H. 18/1 howitzer in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Geschützwagen IV b was a German self-propelled howitzer of the Second World War. It carried a light field howitzer of 10.5 cm caliber in the le.F.H. 18/1 fit, and that in a rotating turret with an open roof, on a tracked chassis derived from the equipment of the IV line. The machine was to accompany advancing units and fire from covered positions while keeping close behind them.
A turned barrel of the howitzer with a gun mantlet for a model of this vehicle in 1:35 scale. A turned part has an accurate circular cross section along its whole length and a hollowed muzzle, so on a finished model it comes across more faithfully than a barrel made of plastic. The set is intended for the Trumpeter kit of this vehicle; before you order it, make sure that it fits yours.
Try the hole in the mantlet and in the front of the turret dry first, and widen it carefully with a drill or a knife if need be, so that the stub of the barrel seats without pressure. Glue the barrel with cyanoacrylate and, before it sets, check from a distance that it points straight and that the muzzle is neither drooping nor twisted. Before painting, wash the part, degrease it and use a base coat suitable for a smooth surface, otherwise the paint lifts. Darken the muzzle at the end; on the real weapon the area around the muzzle tends to be sooty and it adds to the credibility of a model.
The kit of the vehicle, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
