In its range of civilian working machines Hasegawa reproduces real Japanese construction and agricultural machinery, and alongside excavators, rollers and tractors that includes combine harvesters. It is a refreshing change from the traditional military subjects.
Yanmar is a long-established Japanese maker of agricultural machinery and diesel engines. The YH6115 combine harvester is one of the modern machines intended above all for harvesting rice and grain on the smaller Japanese fields: a compact tracked chassis for soft ground, the cutting gear at the front and a grain tank with an unloading arm. Combines of this kind are as typical of the Japanese landscape as tractors are elsewhere.
Before painting, decide how much of a working look you want: a factory-fresh machine comes into its own with clean surfaces and fine panel lines, while a harvest veteran comes to life with dust and mud from pigments on the chassis and the cutting gear. Spray the panels over a light gloss for saturated color, and mask the cab glazing. The model is an excellent basis for a field diorama with figures.
