An accessory, not a kit and not a decal. The vacuum-formed clear canopy replaces the injection-molded transparent part of a plastic model of the Mi-24 attack helicopter and of its export counterpart the Mi-35 in 1:72 scale. According to the name it is intended for the versions with so-called bubble glazing, that is with the convex covers of the tandem cockpits.
A strongly convex shape is the most thankless of all for injection molding: the greater the curvature, the more the thickness of the material shows and the more the image inside is distorted. Vacuum forming from a thin film largely solves that problem - the bubble stays optically clean and the windows do not act like a magnifying glass. On a helicopter, where the glazing is a prominent feature of the silhouette and the cockpits sit one behind the other, the difference can be told even from a distance.
Convex parts are harder to cut out than flat ones, because the film gives way under pressure. Go over the outline with a marker, support the part with a piece of hard foam or modeling clay so that it does not flex, and make repeated light passes with a scalpel. Level the edges on abrasive paper on a flat board and keep testing them against the fuselage - on a bubble the mating line is curved and one pass of sanding too many cannot be undone. Finish and spray the cockpit before gluing, because once the canopy is on you cannot reach inside. Glue with a PVA cement for transparent parts. Suggest the frames with narrow strips of tape; fine masking proves itself better than liquid mask on curved surfaces.
