About product

S.M.S. Leitha 1887 in 1:350 scale from ROP o.s.

A resin kit of the Austro-Hungarian Danube monitor S.M.S. Leitha as she was in 1887, in 1:350 scale from ROP o.s. The set consists of cleanly cast resin parts supplemented by a photo-etched fret with railings and small fittings. It is a kit for experienced modelers.

The real subject

S.M.S. Leitha was one of the first armored river monitors of the Austro-Hungarian Navy; she entered service in the early 1870s and operated on the Danube. Her 1887 appearance reflects later changes to her armament and superstructure. The ship has survived and today serves as a museum vessel in Budapest.

Building and painting tips

First wash the mold release agent off the resin parts and cut the casting blocks away carefully. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and protect your breathing while sanding. Attach the fine photo-etched railings at the end; the model shows well on a stand or in a diorama with a water surface.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of the Austro-Hungarian Navy
  • Lovers of river monitors and the Danube flotilla
  • Experienced modelers of resin kits
  • Anyone interested in 19th century naval history

The model is supplied as a resin kit, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
