1:350 USS Iowa BB-61 - an Artwox Model wooden deck is a self-adhesive veneer with pre-printed plank laying that takes the place of the engraved plastic deck surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory from the brand Artwox Model is not a kit. It is a thin veneer surface with a self-adhesive backing and printed deck plank laying, which is glued onto the plastic deck of a model of the American battleship. The set is cut for one particular kit, Very Fire VF350910; check before buying that it is the same one.
The veneer comes in the natural color of wood and many modelers are happy with it that way. Anyone who wants to go further has room: a very thin stain applied along the length of the planks will shift the tone warmer or grayer, depending on whether the deck is to look fresh or weathered. Work on a test offcut and add color in thin coats, as wood absorbs and any excess is hard to take back. Apply water-thinned products sparingly, so that the veneer does not ripple.
To keep the deck from looking flat, a random shading of individual planks helps. It is enough to go over a few of them with a very thin oil paint or a soft pencil and smooth the differences out. Bring out the seams between the planks with a dark wash applied on the tip of a brush and wiped off at once across them, so that no patches remain. Avoid regularity; a real deck has no two planks the same. Finally seal the whole with matte varnish, which fixes the patina and protects the wood against moisture and wear during handling.
An accessory for a plastic kit, not a model on its own. The paints and glue are not included in the package.
