This is an armament accessory, not a model of an aircraft. The resin set captures the American AGM-84D Harpoon anti-ship guided missile in 1:48 scale and belongs among the resin accessories for aircraft models. It is made by Eduard, a Czech manufacturer from Obrnice near Most.
The Harpoon is an American anti-ship guided missile with an engine of its own and active radar guidance in the terminal phase of flight. The AGM-84D version is the air-launched variant carried on the stores stations of naval and patrol aircraft. It is marked out by a slender cylindrical body with four mid-body wings and tail fins — and it is precisely those thin surfaces that a resin set can cast more faithfully than injection-molded plastic.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and sand the surface wet with respiratory protection. Handle the thin fins with care, as resin is brittle and cracks under too much pressure. The missile is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting. Paint it separately from the model and glue it to the pylon only after varnishing; when painting the white body it pays to use a light gray undercoat, as pure white covers unevenly.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The package does not contain the model, paints or glue.
