An add-on set of engines for a model of the B-17 bomber in 1:48 scale. It replaces the engines from the base kit with more finely worked parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was among the best known American bombers of the Second World War. It was powered by four air-cooled Wright R-1820 Cyclone radial engines housed in nacelles on the leading edge of the wing. The engine nacelles are clearly visible on a finished model and the way they are made markedly affects the overall impression of a build. A radial engine has a visible arrangement of cylinders at the front, which can be brought out well on a model.
An add-on set of engines for a model of the B-17 bomber in 1:48 scale. The parts replace the engines from the base kit and bring a finer breakdown of the cylinders, the cooling fins of the heads and the propeller hub, that is the places where a plastic rendering is usually limited to a coarser shape.
The parts are not polystyrene, so glue them with super glue. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the remainder down. Wash and degrease everything before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. A dark base proves itself, over which the edges of the fins are drawn out with a dry brush; cables and rods can then simply be suggested with a fine brush. Follow the particular assembly procedure according to the manufacturer's instructions. Offer the small parts up dry first, so that you know how they fit together.
The set suits more advanced modelers who want to open a nacelle up or at least to refine the view of the front of an engine. The small parts call for patient cleaning up, tweezers and good light. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
