1:48 B-17F/G Flying Fortress wheels with weighted tires type c (RA) are the third tread variant of resin wheels for the late Flying Fortresses. An accessory to a model, not a kit of the aircraft.

Armory offers several tread variants of main wheels for the late Flying Fortresses; this set carries type c (RA). It holds resin wheels with weighted tires for the B-17F and B-17G versions in 1:48 scale. The set is not a model of the aircraft but a replacement detail, which takes the place of the plastic wheels from a kit.
In period photographs rubber appears as a very dark gray, not as black. A pure black finish takes all the pattern away and the wheel then reads at 1:48 scale as a blind mass. The proven method: a base in a dark gray shade, then a light brightening of the upper part of the sidewall with a thinned lighter gray, flatten the whole thing, and finally suggest dust with a dry pigment around the contact patch and in a narrow band on the side. The hub is painted separately, most often in the shade of the underside of the aircraft; you separate it with a ring cut from masking tape. The rest of the impression is made by a fine dark wash in the groove between the tire and the hub.
First wash the castings in warm soapy water, as otherwise the paint will not hold on any mold release residue. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a knife and level the remainder wet on abrasive paper laid on a flat board, so that the flattened area stays planar. Do not breathe resin dust in. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Before fixing them, fit the wheels dry, stand the model on a flat surface and turn the flattened areas to point exactly downward; otherwise the model will stand crooked.
This is an accessory set, not a model of the aircraft. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package. Check the match with the landing gear of your own model beforehand.
