The set of cast resin replaces the wheels of the landing gear on a plastic model of the B-1B bomber in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft, but an accessory to an already purchased kit. The tires are executed as weighted — they have a flattened contact patch corresponding to a machine standing under its own weight, which on a heavy aircraft is a particularly apparent detail. The name delimits the early execution; the maker offers the late one as a separate item as well.
The Rockwell B-1B Lancer is a four-engine supersonic strategic bomber with a variable-geometry wing. The B-1B version follows on from the older prototype series and is aimed at penetration at low altitude; it therefore has a lower cruising speed and different air intakes than the original variant. The landing gear is of the nose gear arrangement — the main legs carry multi-wheel bogies and bear a considerable takeoff weight, so the deformation of the tires is clearly visible on the real machine.
Wash the resin castings in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent from the mold is removed. Cut the casting blocks off and sand the surface over with protection for your airways. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, not with solvent cement for plastic. In a larger scale it pays to paint the wheels separately: the tire in dark gray with a suggestion of dustiness, the wheel rim according to the look of the real subject. Fit the wheels only once the paintwork of the airframe is finished, so that they are not damaged.
