The Eduard 1:48 B-25G exterior photo-etched set refines the exterior detail of a Mitchell bomber model with thin metal parts that injection-molded plastic cannot capture.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory to a kit in 1:48 scale. It focuses on the exterior of the airframe, that is on the places where a plastic part is always excessively thick: grilles, covers, small sheet-metal stiffeners and fine elements on the fuselage and the wing. Photo-etched metal is an order of magnitude thinner than a molding, so the result comes close to the real ratio of thicknesses. The maker is Eduard, a Czech firm from Obrnice near Most, for which photo-etching is the main specialty.
The North American B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engine medium bomber of the Second World War. The G version differed from the others in a modified nose, into which a large-caliber cannon for attacks on shipping targets was built. Machines of this line therefore found their use mainly in the Pacific in low-level attacks, where the combination of bomb load and forward-firing guns proved itself.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a scalpel against a hard surface, and make the folds in a bending tool or between two blades. Dry-fit a part before gluing, because in some places the original plastic detail has to be cut away first. Degrease the metal and go over it with a primer, otherwise the paint cracks. It is glued with cyanoacrylate or with thin epoxy, which gives you time to adjust the position. For the small parts, glue applied with the head of a pin works well.
The set is an accessory to a kit and comes unpainted. Glue, paints and the kit itself are not included in the package.
