The heavy twin-engine Bf 110C fighter in 1:48 scale gets sprayed glazing frames, sprayed national insignia, a decal sheet and a pair of turned MG 17 machine gun muzzles from this set. Prepared for the Fujimi model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Zerstörer had one great advantage over single-engine fighters. The weapons were not scattered across the wings but packed into the nose: four MG 17 machine guns of 7.92 millimeters caliber on top, under them two twenty-millimeter MG FF cannons. The rounds therefore flew practically in a single bundle and did not have to converge at a point several hundred meters away, as was necessary with armament mounted in the wing. From behind the crew was protected by a movable MG 15 machine gun, operated by the radio operator turned with his back to the pilot.
That is precisely why the twin-engine machines proved themselves against bombers and failed against agile single-seat opponents. Over England in 1940 it turned out that concentrated fire does not make up for the ability to turn sharply.
The set brings a pair of metal muzzles for the machine guns of the upper row, a decal sheet and two kinds of film. One covers the busy cockpit glazing, which on this type extends across the whole center section of the fuselage; the other serves for spraying the national insignia. On such a long greenhouse pre-cut film is a noticeable saving of time against masking by hand with tape.
During the build it is good to think about the order. The inner film is applied before the greenhouse is seated on the fuselage, because afterwards nobody can reach the frame from inside and it would stay in the shade of the interior. On a two-seat machine that shows twice over; the glazed area is roughly twice as long as on a single-seat fighter and a mistake cannot be covered up.
The cut-outs correspond to the Fujimi kit in 1:48 scale; the plastic parts are not part of the delivery.
