Aber Photo-Etched Set 1:48 for the British Sherman IC Firefly

A photo-etched set from the Polish manufacturer Aber in 1:48 scale intended for models of the British Sherman IC Firefly version of the tank. The set replaces and supplements plastic elements with thin brass parts and markedly raises the realism of the model. It is not a tank kit but an added detail accessory for a build.

The real subject

The Firefly was a British conversion of the American Sherman tank into which a powerful 17-pounder gun, able to pierce the armor of even heavy German tanks, was fitted. The IC version was based on the hull of the Sherman I. In the Second World War the Firefly was among the most effective Allied tanks in the fight against armored vehicles.

Usage tips

Separate the parts with a sharp knife or photo-etch scissors and make the bends on a bending tool. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or epoxy; degrease the brass before painting and spray it with a primer. Working with photo-etched parts suits more experienced modelers.
