The two pieces of artwork on this sheet will complete a model of an American heavy bomber. Virgo decorated the nose of the aircraft 252532, Pisces belonged to the machine 252517. Both signs come from one artistic set that the whole squadron received, and on a model they therefore work just as well on their own as in a pair with another sheet of the same line.
The version designated with the letter H differs from earlier forms above all in the arrangement of defensive armament in the nose. Whereas earlier machines had forward glazing with only hand operated machine guns, on this variant a rotating turret closes the nose off, which markedly improved the defense against head-on attacks. The side beneath it stayed flat and large enough for generous artwork to fit on it with no compromise. For a modeler that means checking whether his kit matches this very form.
A thin film needs a flat support and calm. Working on a piece of glass or on a tile proves itself, where printing slides freely once soaked and nothing gets caught under it. Let a motif rest for a few minutes in water, so that the glue softens evenly, and never tear it off the backing by force. Finally fix the area with varnish, otherwise even ordinary dusting can damage it.
This is a printed sheet for 1:48 size with two signs. The bomber model and modeling chemicals are obtained separately. The set also suits someone who is still considering which subject to choose: the signs are prominent enough to carry even simply executed camouflage and give a finished model a character that paintwork alone cannot supply.
