A 1:48 resin correction set for a Spitfire model is an accessory to a kit you have already bought, not a model. It replaces the parts of the kit with castings of more accurate shape.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit or a model. It is a resin correction set from the Czech maker Brengun, cut for the particular Spitfire kit named in the product title. A correction set differs from an ordinary detail set in its purpose: it does not merely add extra detail but corrects the shape of parts that in that kit do not match the real aircraft.
An injected kit is always a compromise between fidelity of shape and how a mold can be split and made. On some kits an inaccuracy therefore arises that a builder familiar with the subject will notice, in a profile, a cross-section or the shaping of a particular part of the airframe. A correction casting goes into the model in place of the original part and puts the shape right. The result shows even to a viewer who did not know about the problem: the silhouette simply looks right.
Before you start cutting, hold the resin part against the plastic one and think the line of the cut through; repeat the dry test after every pass. Part the plastic with a fine-toothed saw or a cutting scalpel, not by snapping it. Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water beforehand to remove the mold release and cut the casting blocks off. Sand resin wet and do not inhale the dust. Glue the joint with super glue and fill any gap with glue with filler or with putty: at the boundary of plastic and resin every poor fit shows. Before painting, sand the whole joint and spray a primer, which will also show where more leveling is still needed.
This is an accessory set, not a model. The kit, glue, putty and paints are not included in the package.
