1:48 Curtiss-Wright AT-9 Jeep TFace is an Eduard masking set in the TFace form, that is for covering the glazing from the inside as well as the outside. Intended for a model of the twin-engine trainer aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The TFace designation means that the sheet holds masks for both sides of the glazing: the outer frames and the ones visible from inside the cabin. On a type with a canopy as densely divided as this it shows — the inner side of the frames lies right beside the outer in the viewer's line of sight and an unpainted place between them stands out. It is not a kit and not a glued part; it is an aid for spraying.
The AT-9 Jeep is an American twin-engine trainer aircraft of the Second World War period, intended for converting pilots onto twin-engine machines. It was designed to make more demands on a pilot than ordinary trainer types, and so to prepare him for more demanding aircraft. The glazed cabin runs over both seats, ends in a pointed front and holds a large number of narrow frames — on a model, therefore, the cabin is the dominant element and deserves careful masking.
Degrease the glazing and let it dry. Stick the inner masks on first, then the outer ones; the inner side is easiest to work with while the clear part is not set into the fuselage. Lift the masks off with tweezers, under a magnifier with the narrow frames, and press the edge down with a toothpick. Spray in thin coats. Fill the cockpit with cotton wool before spraying. Take the masks off while the paint is freshly dry.
The set holds masking material only. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
