A decal sheet in its own right from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models in 1:48 scale for a model of the Antonov An-2 biplane. According to the name it is devoted to a single civil machine with the registration HA-YHF, so it offers complete markings for one particular aircraft instead of a mixture of variants.
Sheets devoted to one machine usually leave room for detail: the registration, the lettering and the supplementary items in the matching size and layout. For a modeler that means less guesswork and a quicker route to a convincing result. A thin carrier film also conforms to the ribbed covering of the An-2 better than the thicker decals from older kits.
The Antonov An-2 is a single-engine biplane with a radial engine and fabric covering over much of the airframe. It was designed as a general purpose utility aircraft able to take off short from a grass strip, carry a bulky load and stand up to undemanding conditions. In civil service it found work in transport, in agriculture and in parachute training, and many machines are still flying today.
First varnish the model with gloss clear coat, so that no air is left under a decal. Cut the decal out as closely as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and move it into place once it releases. Fine-tune the position with a damp brush and soak the surplus water up. Where there are ribs and engraving use a decal softener and let the film dry untouched. Finally unify the surface with a varnish of the sheen you want.
