An add-on detail set from FineMolds in 1:700 scale. It holds fine castings of the swinging davits for lowering ship's boats as carried by Japanese battleships and cruisers. It serves to refine the deck of a model and is not a stand-alone ship model.
Boat davits served to put out and recover lifeboats and working boats over the ship's side. The radial, swinging form was typical of larger Japanese vessels. Together with the boats they formed a noticeable element of the deck equipment of battleships and cruisers.
Separate the fine parts from the casting blocks, wash them free of mold release agent and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Protect the thin arms of the davits from bending. We recommend a primer and painting with an airbrush; the davits come out well in combination with the boats and the rigging.
This is an add-on set, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
