E wing armament (early version) for the British Spitfire Mk.IX to XVI fighter (1:48) from Aber. A metal accessory with photo-etched parts, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft kit but a metal detail accessory. The set brings turned brass barrels for the so-called E wing of the Spitfire in its early form, that is, a pair of 20mm Hispano cannons and the muzzles of the .50 cal machine guns. It replaces the plastic barrels with faithful metal.
The E wing carried two 20mm Hispano cannons and two .50 inch machine guns and became the typical armament of the later Merlin-engined Spitfires, that is, the Mk.IX to XVI versions. The arrangement of the barrels is a prominent recognition feature on a model.
Cut off the plastic barrels, drill the holes and glue the turned parts in with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Take care over the correct overhang and the parallelism of the barrels; hold the small parts with tweezers.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
