A masking set from the Dead Design brand in 1:48 scale for the Twin Mustang in the F-82G version. These are pre-cut masks, not a kit and not a part of a model. This item is the basic version of the range - for the same type there is also a set for masking from outside and inside and separate national insignia.
The F-82 Twin Mustang came about by joining two fuselages derived from the P-51 with a common center wing section and a common horizontal tail. The F-82G version was the night fighter with a radar pod under the center section. For the modeler, what matters is that the airframe is mirrored - everything you do on the left you have to do the same way on the right.
It is precisely on a doubled airframe that it pays to work symmetrically and all at once: stick the matching masks on both cockpits one straight after the other and in the same way, so that the frames come out the same width. A difference nobody would notice on a single fuselage shows at once beside its counterpart. Lift the mask off the backing with the point of a scalpel or with tweezers by the edge, not with your fingers - the adhesive side picks up dust and grease, and once anything gets onto it the mask will not seat and the paint will run underneath. The base has to be smooth and fully cured; do not stick a mask onto fresh paint, even if it seems dry.
The set holds masks only. The model and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
