1:48 F-105D Thunderchief BASIC kabuki masks

F-105D Thunderchief 1:48 - BASIC kabuki masks, New Ware

This is a masking set, not an aircraft kit. The set from New Ware contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks from fine kabuki tape for the American F-105D Thunderchief fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale. The BASIC level is the entry one: it covers the outside of the canopy glazing, the other clear parts and the wheels. The masks are shaped for one specific kit of this type in this scale and follow the canopy frames and the outline of the tires, so there is no need to cut tape with a knife directly on the model.

Use

• Degrease the clear parts before masking and let them dry, otherwise the mask will not hold.
• Lift the mask off the sheet with tweezers, seat it along the frame of the glazing and press it down all around.
• Spray the primer and the camouflage over it, so that the edges of the frames come out sharp and with no seepage.
• The wheel masks separate the tire from the hub, and the hub is then sprayed on its own.
• Take the mask off once the finish is tacky, not after it has cured completely.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the F-105D Thunderchief in 1:48 scale and want quick, clean masking. The entry BASIC level suits less experienced builders too, since using masks is more reliable than cutting tape by hand.

An accessory for a model, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. When spraying, work in a ventilated space and wear respiratory protection.
