Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary North American F-51D Mustang fighter in its Korean War form, 1:48 scale, from Tamiya. The set contains a generous load of underwing stores for the ground-attack role, a pilot figure and decals for several color schemes. Tamiya is known for accurate fit of the parts and a well-thought-out build, so the model will please even a demanding modeler.
The P-51 Mustang was one of the most successful fighters of the Second World War, powered by a V12 engine with its characteristic radiator under the fuselage. After the US Air Force was established as an independent service its designation changed to F-51D, and the aircraft served in the Korean War too, where it proved itself mainly as a ground-attack machine supporting ground units. It carried bombs, unguided rockets and drop tanks, which were also used as napalm canisters.
Use liquid cement on the plastic and finish the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. For the natural metal finish of Mustangs, metallic paints applied over a smooth gloss base work well; the pigment of metallics has to be stirred thoroughly and they have to be masked carefully. Bring out the panel lines with a wash and assemble the underwing stores according to the scheme you choose.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
