Eduard 1:48 F4U-1 Birdcage is a photo-etched detail set for sharpening models of the American carrier-based fighter Vought F4U Corsair in its early version. It is not a model but a metal accessory for a built-up kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings fine photo-etched metal parts for sharpening plastic models of the early fighter Vought F4U-1 Corsair in the Birdcage standard in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of an airplane – it is an accessory meant to be built into a base kit already under construction. The photo-etched parts sharpen above all the cockpit and the interior: the instrument panel, the side consoles, the seat belts and small details.
The Vought F4U Corsair was an American carrier-based fighter of the Second World War with its characteristic inverted gull wing and a massive radial engine. The early F4U-1 standard had a heavily framed canopy, which earned it the nickname Birdcage for its latticed look. The Corsair was among the most successful fighters of the Pacific and served with the Navy and the Marine Corps alike.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife, bend them in a bending tool and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or epoxy. Once painted and given a fine wash, the interior gains markedly in depth.
This is an accessory, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
