New Ware F9F-2P Panther BASIC 1:48 painting masks

A set of accurate self-adhesive masks of thin washi (kabuki) tape from New Ware. They serve for quick, clean masking of the canopy glazing, the wheels and other details of the model when spraying with an airbrush or with a brush. The material follows the shape well, holds along the edge of the engraved lines and leaves no adhesive residue once peeled off. The BASIC level covers the basic masking of the canopy glazing.

The real subject

The Grumman F9F Panther was an American carrier-based jet fighter of the US Navy from the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. The F9F-2P photo-reconnaissance version carried an installation of cameras in the nose in place of the cannon armament and was sent out on reconnaissance sorties, above all during the Korean War.

Use

• Clean and degrease the glazing, move the mask with tweezers and press it down along the engraved edges.
• Spray in thin coats so that the paint does not bleed under the edge of the mask.
• Peel the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, while the coat is still flexible.
• Suitable for sharp color transitions on the canopy frames and on small clear areas.
