The set captures Russian ODAB-500PM aerial bombs of 500 kg caliber in 1:48 scale. It is not a stand-alone model but a resin accessory of carried armament for complementing the stores of a kit. The resin castings offer fine detail of the characteristic bomb body and its tail. The accessory is intended for realistically arming models of Soviet and Russian attack and strike aircraft.
The ODAB-500PM is a volumetric detonation (thermobaric, fuel-air) bomb weighing 500 kg. After release it disperses a fuel aerosol that is then ignited and creates an extensive pressure wave. Bombs of this type are used against area and lightly protected targets. They were deployed by machines such as MiG and Su types.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Unify the body with a primer, spray the base shade and bring out the surface with a fine wash and graded grime. Use respiratory protection when sanding resin.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue, paints and the racks are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
