Eduard F9F Panther 1:48 painting mask set

This is a set of self-adhesive painting masks (cut from Japanese kabuki tape) from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale. The masks serve for spraying the frames of the canopy glazing, and usually also the wheel rims, accurately and cleanly on a plastic model of the F9F Panther aircraft. It is not a kit and not a set of decals but an aftermarket accessory for painting, used while building the corresponding model. The model itself is obtained separately.

The real subject

The Grumman F9F Panther was an American single-engine jet carrier-based fighter and the first jet fighter from Grumman to enter service with the US Navy. With its straight wing and wingtip tanks it made a marked contribution in the Korean War.

Use

• The masks are transferred from the backing sheet and stuck onto the clear canopy glazing according to the shape of the frames.
• The transitions are pressed down so that paint does not run under the edge, and the area is sprayed over with an airbrush.
• Once dry, the masks are taken off; kabuki tape holds its shape and leaves no glue behind.
• Masks for the wheel rims are usually included for an easy separation of the tire from the rim.

Who the set is for

• Modelers building the F9F Panther in 1:48 scale who want clean canopy frames
• Builders who do not want to cut the frames out laboriously and paint them with a brush
• Anyone interested in speeding up and refining the painting of the glazing

This is a set of painting masks, not a model of the aircraft. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
