It is intended for completing a plastic model of the German Fieseler Fi 156 C-3 Storch liaison and observation aircraft in 1:48 scale, in the version linked with service with night ground-attack units (Nachtschlacht). Resin holds sharper edges and finer surface texture than injection-molded plastic, so it is used precisely where a production mold runs up against its technological limits.
The Fi 156 Storch was a single-engine high-wing aircraft with fixed landing gear, famous for its exceptionally short takeoff and landing. That was made possible by a combination of fixed slots along the leading edge of the wing, large flaps and long-travel landing gear that stood up to touching down on rough ground. It was powered by an air-cooled inverted V8 Argus engine. The aircraft mainly carried out liaison, observation, courier and medical evacuation tasks, and the C-3 version was multi-purpose. The Nachtschlacht designation refers to night ground-attack units, with which slow machines of this type served in supporting and liaison roles.
Wash the resin parts first in lukewarm water with detergent — residues of mold release agent otherwise prevent both paint and glue from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off with a modeling saw or a cutter, never break them off. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust is very fine. Always dry-fit the parts before gluing and remove the surplus plastic where they seat. They are glued with cyanoacrylate; ordinary cement for plastic does not work on resin. Before painting, lay on a thin coat of primer, which evens out the surface and reveals any fine sanding marks.
