Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-4 — wheels and paint masks 1:48 is a resin accessory from the Czech manufacturer AML: sharper landing gear detail and faultlessly painted wheels for the famous Focke-Wulf Fw 190.
Responsibility details are not available.
On a model of the Fw 190 the landing gear is visible from every angle, and that is exactly where most kits economize. This set from the Czech manufacturer AML offers resin wheels with fine detail and paint masks that let you spray the boundary between hub and tire right the first time. The accessory is meant for a base kit and does not contain the aircraft model itself.
The Fw 190 A-4 was built from the summer of 1942 and represented the mature form of the fighter with its BMW 801 radial engine. A rugged aircraft with wide-track landing gear, it took field airfields better than the competing Bf 109 and served on the Western and Eastern Fronts alike. The broad wheels carrying the heavy airframe are one of the recognition features of the type, so making them convincing on a model really pays off.
Once the castings are separated from the blocks, sand the cut lightly and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Use the masks for a clean spray job, and paint the tires dark gray rather than pure black, which looks truer. A wash around the hub nut and the ventilation holes in the hub draws the detail out nicely.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
