The Eduard 1:48 Fw 190A-8/R2 undercarriage legs BRONZE set replaces the plastic main landing gear legs with bronze castings. The metal carries the weight of the model and does not sag.

This is an add-on set, not an aircraft kit. It holds main landing gear legs cast in bronze, intended for a model of the Fw 190A-8/R2 version in 1:48 scale. The metal version solves two long-standing problems of plastic legs: insufficient strength and the gradual sagging under the weight of a finished model that happens with plastic even after months of standing in a display case.
Bronze is considerably stiffer than injection-molded plastic and than resin, so a leg holds the model in exactly the right attitude and does not twist. A metal casting also takes finer shapes, because it does not have to be sized for strength. The set suits above all models with a heavy interior, nose weight or accessories in metal and resin, where plastic landing gear works at the limit of what it can carry.
Cut the castings from the gate with a saw or a cutting disc and dress the cut with a fine file. Glue the metal with cyanoacrylate; under heavier loads a two-part epoxy is safer. Degrease the surface before painting and lay down a good primer made for metal, otherwise the finish will chip at the first handling. Apply the paint in thin coats and let it cure properly before you stand the model on its wheels. Details such as brake lines can be added with fine wire.
This is an add-on set, not a model of the aircraft. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
