A photo-etched detail set from Aber for the Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. N (Sd.Kfz. 141/2) medium tank in 1:48 scale. The metal parts refine a model; on its own it is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched detail set from the Polish maker Aber in 1:48 scale for the German Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank in the Ausf. N version, carried under the designation Sd.Kfz. 141/2. It is not a model but an accessory to a plastic kit, which has to be owned separately. The etched metal parts replace thin-walled fittings of the external gear, where the difference against plastic is most visible on a finished model.
The Ausf. N was the last tank form of the Pz.Kpfw. III. It came about from vehicles of earlier versions rearmed with the short 75 mm gun taken over from the early Pz.Kpfw. IV. The tank thus stopped being an anti-tank machine and became a support vehicle for escorting infantry and destroying field positions. Production ran from the middle of 1942 and the machines served, among other roles, with the heavy tank battalions as escorts for the Tigers. Later examples carried side protective screens and other small changes to the external gear.
Take the parts out with a scalpel on a hard mat and handle them with tweezers. Run the bends along the scored lines, ideally in a photo-etch bending tool. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a toothpick, so that the excess does not flood the fine relief. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer for metal. German vehicles from 1942 and 1943 are painted in a gray or dark yellow base depending on the period of service; build the weathering with a wash into the gaps and dusty pigments on the running gear.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
