Photo-etched engine compartment grilles for the Tiger I tank in 1:48 scale from Aber. A metal replacement for the plastic radiator covers on the rear deck.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It replaces the plastic grilles over the engine compartment of the German Tiger I heavy tank. The real grilles are open and you can see inside through them — injection-molded plastic cannot manage that, which is why photo-etch as a replacement is among the most striking improvements to the look of a model.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank built from 1942 and armed with an 88 mm gun. The rear deck carried grilled covers for the radiators and fans, which are among the most characteristic details of the vehicle's silhouette seen from above.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard mat or with photo-etch scissors, and make the bends in a bending tool or along a steel ruler. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue and degrease the surfaces beforehand. Lay down a base coat suitable for metal before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the etched parts.
This is a detail set, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
