An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Hunting (Percival) Provost T.1 trainer in 1:48 scale from MikroMir. It is a short-run kit completed with photo-etched parts and a clear part for the canopy; masks for the glazing and decals for several schemes tend to be included as well. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Provost was a British basic trainer developed in the 1950s as a replacement for the older Percival Prentice in the Royal Air Force. It was powered by a radial piston engine, it had fixed landing gear and side-by-side seating for the instructor and the pupil. It served for the initial training of RAF pilots and it was the basis for the later jet-powered Jet Provost.
As with short-run kits, expect to clean the parts up more carefully and to dry-fit them. Glue the photo-etched parts with super glue. Mask the frame of the canopy with the masks supplied. Postwar training schemes are typical; tone the surfaces and bring the panel lines out with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
