This set from the Czech manufacturer HGW contains realistic crew seat belts for the crew compartment of the twin-engine Junkers Ju 88 bomber in 1:48 scale. Note: this is not an airplane kit but a standalone detail accessory that replaces the simplified plastic belts supplied in ordinary kits and lifts the look of the cockpit considerably.
The belts themselves are made of thin printed fabric that behaves like real cloth - it can be bent, creased and shaped naturally over the seat. The metal clasps and buckles are photo-etched and are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. The result is a faithful rendering of the harness that a plastic part can never manage.
Work the belts between your fingers before fitting them, so that they take on a soft, draping shape. Separate the photo-etched buckles from the fret with a sharp knife and join them with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue. The fabric takes ordinary modeling paints, washes and filters, so the belts can be toned and weathered afterwards.
The set serves as an accessory for a model. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
