The plastic kit Manshu Ki-79 B in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker RS Models: a Japanese Second World War trainer in short-run technology.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Manshu Ki-79 B trainer in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker RS Models. It is a short-run kit with a finely engraved surface; this technology calls for more experience, patience and cleanup of the parts, so it is suited rather to more advanced modelers. The Ki-79 B is the two-seat version intended for advanced training.
The Ki-79 was a trainer derived from the Nakajima Ki-27 fighter. It was built by the Manshu company in Manchuria and served to train Japanese pilots. While the single-seat Ki-79 A version was used for solo flying, the two-seat Ki-79 B with a second seat served for advanced and conversion training with an instructor. The aircraft had fixed landing gear and a radial engine and was simple to operate and to maintain. Some of the machines reached other users in Southeast Asia after the war.
As with any short-run kit, first clean the parts up of casting remains and check the fit dry. Paint the cockpit with both seats and fit it before closing the fuselage. Mask the canopy glazing and glue it on last. For a faithful look, reach for period Japanese training shades, or for the bright orange training finish. Keep the weathering restrained, with rubbing on the leading edges and around the engine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
