The MiG-19S Farmer C masking set in 1:48 from New Ware, BASIC level is the basic variant of pre-cut masks for the model of the first Soviet production supersonic fighter. A straightforward way to get clean canopy frames.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of self-adhesive masks cut to shape for the model of the MiG-19S fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an aid for the painting stage. BASIC denotes the smallest of the offered levels of coverage, which makes it the simplest way into masking with pre-cut parts. Anyone who mainly wants the canopy glazing solved and does not need wider coverage will get by with exactly this one.
Sets at higher levels make sense on models being finished to competition standard or with a complex color scheme. For an ordinary build for a display case, the glazing is usually what decides: it shows the most and is the hardest thing to mask by hand. The basic level solves that part, and the rest of the model can be masked with ordinary tape and modeling putty.
The MiG-19 was the first Soviet production fighter capable of supersonic flight in level flight. It was powered by a pair of afterburning engines, and its cannon armament was among the heaviest of its day. The S version was the day fighter variant with an all-moving horizontal tail, which improved handling at high speeds considerably. The type was also built under license and served in many countries, Czechoslovakia among them.
Models of this type are often finished in natural metal, which mercilessly shows up any dirt under a mask. Wipe the surface before applying them, then, and do not touch it with your fingers. Spray metallic shades onto a smooth, glossy base. Remove the mask soon after spraying and lift off any paint that has crept under with the tip of a toothpick rather than a scalpel.
The set contains masking parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. The masks are shaped for a particular kit of this type, so check that they match your own model.
