The turned metal MASTER 1:48 MiG-21 U/US/UM (Mongol) Pitot tube replaces the plastic probe on the nose of a model of the two-seat MiG-21 trainer.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal detail part, not an aircraft model. It replaces the plastic Pitot tube on the nose of a model of the two-seat MiG-21 trainer (Mongol) in 1:48 scale.
The MiG-21 U, US and UM versions, NATO designation Mongol, were the two-seat trainer variants of the popular Soviet fighter. They were used to train pilots all over the world and kept the characteristic long Pitot tube above the nose of the fuselage. That slender, protruding element is the most vulnerable spot on plastic kits, and bending or breaking it can spoil an otherwise successful model.
Cut the plastic tube off and glue the metal part in with super glue (cyanoacrylate) onto degreased surfaces. The metal version will not break during handling and keeps the axis of the probe exactly straight. Before painting, coat the part with a base color (primer) for better adhesion, and after gluing it in check that the tube follows the axis of the nose and has no sideways deviation, which would easily catch the eye on a finished model.
This is not a complete model. The part holds no glue, no paints and no kit.
