An etched accessory set for a model of the Soviet Mikoyan MiG-15 jet fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-15 was a Soviet single-seat fighter with a single jet engine and a markedly swept wing. It came about at the end of the 1940s and became one of the most widespread fighters of its day, among other things thanks to its simple construction and heavy armament. It took part in the fighting over Korea, and in a number of armed forces it served for a long time afterwards, also as a trainer and conversion machine.
These are etched accessories intended for a model of the MiG-15 in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch replaces plastic parts where plastic is too thick for reasons of production, and it gives the model thin edges and a fine texture that a kit cannot offer. Which specific parts the set carries and exactly where they belong are described in the enclosed instructions from the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, and do not break them out, as otherwise they twist. Guide the folds along the marked grooves, ideally in a photo-etch bending tool or between two razor blades. They are bonded with super glue applied in a very small amount, ideally with a pin or a piece of wire. Degrease the parts that are to be painted first and give them a ground intended for metal, as otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
The set is suitable for modelers who already have experience with photo-etch and want to raise the level of detail on a MiG-15 model. Working with it calls for tweezers, a sharp blade and a calm hand. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
