An accessory set from L Decals Studio: two R-33 air-to-air missiles in 1:48 scale supplemented by a sheet of technical lettering. It is not a kit of an aircraft but underwing ordnance for a model you build separately. Given the size of the missile, the quality of the part shows especially well on a finished model.
The R-33, under the NATO reporting name AA-9 Amos, is a Soviet long-range air-to-air missile developed as the main armament of the MiG-31 interceptor. Its task was to destroy targets at long range before they entered the area that shorter-ranged weapons could defend, working together with a powerful onboard radar. The missiles were carried on the MiG-31 recessed under the fuselage, which is characteristic of this aircraft; that is precisely why the set suits builds of this machine above all.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry thoroughly. Check the long body of the missile against a ruler; any slight bow in cast parts can be straightened by a brief dip in hot water and cooling in a straight position. Cut the casting stubs off with a saw and glue with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay the lettering down over a gloss clear coat with a decal softener, and at the end unify the surface with a semi-matte varnish.
The package holds two missiles and a sheet of lettering. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
