An accessory set, not an aircraft kit. It offers a Japanese radial engine cast in resin in 1:48 scale in the form with the type 4 exhaust. The manufacturer carries this engine section in several variants; they differ in the solution of the exhaust, so the choice depends on which subject you are building. For a modeler it is the easiest way to lift the front end of a model markedly without lengthy work on modifications of your own.
The Nakajima Kotobuki was an air-cooled radial engine of the first half of the 1930s, designated Ha-1 in the Japanese system of marking; its development followed on from a British design built under license. Engines of this type powered Japanese fighters and trainers of their day. The form of the exhaust piping was among the features that changed between individual versions of the aircraft.
You will make the work easier if you finish the engine separately and glue it into the fuselage only when it is done. The procedure is always the same: wash in warm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw, sand wet with respiratory protection and apply primer. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). For painting, a dark metallic base, the cylinder heads set apart, a dry brush on the edges of the finning and a dark wash that gives the cylinders depth all work well. Shades of rust and heat-tinted metal applied in thin, irregular coats suit the exhaust. Check dry whether the engine clashes with the inside of the cowling and with the mounting of the propeller.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
