The set brings waterslide decals for a model of the two-seat F-5F Tiger II in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit and not a finished model, but an accessory with which you mark a plastic model obtained separately. According to the name, the sheet relates to the anniversary finish of machines of the Royal Thai Air Force, that is to a set of markings that does not occur in ordinary box decals.
The F-5F is the two-seat variant of the light supersonic F-5E Tiger II fighter. Compared with the single-seat version it has a lengthened fuselage and seats arranged in tandem under a common canopy, while retaining its combat capability and remaining usable for continuation training on the type. Power comes from two General Electric J85 engines with afterburners, and the structure is simple and undemanding to maintain. It was precisely this combination of performance and operating economy that decided the extensive export of the type to a number of countries, where the F-5E and F-5F served for decades.
An anniversary finish tends to be laid out over large areas, and the decals are therefore often larger than a modeler is used to. Work with a sufficiently large dish of lukewarm water, let the decal stand after soaking and carry it over to the model together with the backing. Before you seat it finally, wet the area with water and a drop of detergent — the decal can then still be moved. Push air bubbles out with a soft brush or a damp cotton swab, always from the center outwards. Do not hurry to go over large pieces with a decal softener; use it only after drying and only where a decal has to settle into a recess. Finally, unify the model with clear so that the edge of the film disappears.
