An injection-molded plastic kit of the American twin-boom fighter Lockheed P-38J Lightning in 1:48 scale from Minicraft. The parts are molded in gray and clear plastic and the model has a detailed cockpit. The set holds good-quality waterslide decals with two marking options, including the famous YIPPEE machine.
YIPPEE was the five-thousandth P-38 built and in honor of that milestone it was given a striking red-orange finish. It served to promote the sale of war bonds in support of the American war effort in the Second World War before it was handed over to combat service. The second marking option represents a P-38J of the 20th Fighter Group operating in England in 1944.
Glue the parts with a thin plastic cement. The striking red-orange color of the YIPPEE machine comes out best over a light base; apply even coats with an airbrush. Apply a gloss clear coat before the decals. We recommend picking the cockpit out before the fuselage is closed up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
